A plot of land is donated by a kind hearted land owner to a poor farmer Bansiram during the British regime in India. After the owner�s death, his son wants to buy the land but Bansiram refuses to sell it. He appeals to the British for protection, which they provide and is able to save his property. Now this plot forms the main crux of the story that follows.
